The Horseshoe is a traditional public house in a wonderful building dating back to the 15th century.

Its the only public house on the high street in the medieval town of Chipping Sodbury and was established in 2013.

Dave and Gilly own this wonderful Freehouse “The Horseshoe” where
our motto is “Come in as a Stranger, leave as a Friend”.

We always have 7 Fantastic ever changing Real Ales along with an award winning Beer garden having many exotic plants, palms, its a lovely sunny place to relax with a drink in the summer. We support Camra, and are dog friendly, children friendly.

The Horseshoe is also home to Gilly’s Many Gins and our own distillery “Still in Sodbury”.

What’s Going On?

Opening 4th July with Covid – 19 Risk Assessment


Please Don’t Come to the Pub if you have any Symptoms of Covid – 19, are in self-isolation, living with someone who has symptoms or have been contacted by the Government Track and Trace advising you to self-isolate.

All our tables either inside or Marquee are available to book at any time, walk ins welcome.

Upon arrival at The Horseshoe via front door you will be shown to a table and we request that you remain within the boundary of your allotted table. If a queue forms while waiting for a seat please keep right into the nearside of the pavement. There is table service and we will take cash or cards. We will also take your names and either phone number or address or email as requested by the Governments policy. These will be destroyed by myself after 21 days by shredding. (G.M.Jeal)

We are operating a 1 in 1 out toilet policy. If more than 3 in queue could you please return to your table until less than 3 people waiting. Remember social distancing, washing hands, Sanitising.

We have made available at top of garden a smoking area for 2 people at any one time. We ask you please not to smoke anywhere else. Thank You.

Upon leaving the pub or marquee please leave by the back gate.  (to keep a one way  system in place as much as possible.)

Last drinks will be served at quarter to 10 in Marquee whereby you can quietly finish your drinks.

After 10 p m anyone leaving is to leave through front door remembering to respect social distancing.

Ours hours are Sunday through to Thursday 10.00 a.m. to 11.00 p.m.

      Friday and Saturday  10.00 a.m to 12 a.m.

Gilly’s Gin Nights

Dave and Gilly are hoping one day to set a record for how many Gins they serve.

Join our Bar Manager and Gin Expert, Matt, on a night out all about the amazing spirit! Enjoy an informative history of gin, followed by 5 gins with their mixers and garnishes. Food is included.

The Horseshoe is a Lovely Traditional Public House in a 15th Century Building and yet was only founded in 2013 by Landlord and Landlady Dave and Gilly. They made their home into a Pub and it is very successful. Their motto is “Come in as a Stranger, leave as a friend”.
